Walk into a toy store in Berlin, Copenhagen, or Portland and you will see them. Shelves of wooden toys with the retailer's own name on the box. Not a big brand. Not a famous logo. Just a clean, quiet label that says "made for us." Private label wooden toys are one of the fastest-growing segments in Europe and North America. Retailers want differentiation. They want margin control. They want a product they can own. At OKEYKIDS, the children's toy brand of Wenzhou Times Arts & Crafts Co., Ltd., we have spent 24 years making wooden toys for Europe and North America. Private label is one of the areas we understand best.

Why private label works for wooden toys.
National brands are expensive. They control the shelf. They control the price. They control the story. Private label flips that. The retailer controls the design, the packaging, the price, and the customer relationship. Wooden toys are particularly well suited to private label because the material itself carries quality. A wooden toy with a clean, simple label looks premium without a famous name. The product does the work. The label does the rest.
What private label actually requires.
It is not as simple as putting your logo on a box. Private label means you own the product specification. You choose the wood. You choose the finish. You choose the age grading. You choose the packaging. You choose the testing documentation. You are responsible for the product that reaches your customer. That is why the manufacturing partner matters more than the logo. Every OKEYKIDS product is tested to EN71 and ASTM F963 standards. We use water-based paints and child-safe finishes. Edges are rounded. Small parts are checked and rechecked. Batch records are kept. If a toy does not pass, it does not ship.

The steps, in order.
First, define the brand. What does your label stand for? Calm? Sustainability? Inclusive play? Gift quality? The answer shapes the product. Second, choose a product range. Start with two or three items, not twenty. A stacking toy. A puzzle. A block set. Test the market before you scale. Third, approve the specification. Wood type, finish, color, age grading, packaging. Fourth, approve the sample. Hold it. Feel it. Check the edges. Then place the order. Fifth, plan packaging and labeling early. Barcodes, age warnings, CE marking, recycling symbols, language requirements. These details can delay a launch if they are handled late.
What retailers get wrong.
The most common mistake is treating private label as a cheap version of a national brand. It is not. Private label is your brand. If the toy is poor, the customer blames you. If the packaging is weak, the customer blames you. If the shipment is late, the customer blames you. The second mistake is choosing a supplier who cannot document the process. A certificate on a wall is not the same as a batch record. A sample photo is not the same as a production sample. Ask for documentation. Ask for a live walkthrough. Ask what happens when a batch fails.

What OKEYKIDS offers.
