Most people assume a toy factory tries to protect its products. At OKEYKIDS, we do the opposite. We drop them. We twist them. We pull them apart. We soak them, heat them, and stress them until something fails. Then we fix the design and do it again. The children’s toy brand of Wenzhou Times Arts & Crafts Co., Ltd., we have spent 24 years making wooden toys for Europe and North America. Destructive testing is one of the reasons our products survive real children.

The Drop Test. A wooden toy will fall. From a high chair. From a stroller. From a child’s hand at the top of the stairs. We simulate this before it happens. We drop toys from standard heights onto hard surfaces, repeated across multiple units. We check for cracks, splinters, loose joints, and detached small parts. If a toy fails, the design changes. Not the test.
The Torque and Tension Test. Children twist things. They pull. They try to separate what should stay together. We apply controlled force to joints, dowels, and attached parts. We measure how much pressure it takes to break them. If the number is too low, we reinforce the joint. If it is too high, we check whether the material is overbuilt. Every OKEYKIDS product is tested to EN71 and ASTM F963 standards. Edges are rounded. Small parts are checked and rechecked. Batch records are kept. If a toy does not pass, it does not ship.

The Moisture and Heat Test. Wood moves. Humidity swells it. Heat dries it. A toy shipped from Wenzhou to Rotterdam to a warehouse in Ohio will experience all of it. We test how our wood and finishes respond to moisture and temperature changes. We use water-based paints and child-safe finishes that hold up. We check for warping, cracking, and paint adhesion. This is not glamorous work. It is necessary work.
The Saliva and Wear Test. Babies mouth everything. We simulate repeated exposure to moisture and friction. We check whether paint stays bonded, whether edges remain smooth, and whether the finish holds. A toy that looks perfect in a catalog photo but fails after one week of teething is not a toy. It is a return.

Why we do this. Because the alternative is worse. A toy that fails in a lab is a lesson. A toy that fails in a child’s hands is a liability. For brands and retailers, destructive testing protects your reputation. It reduces returns. It prevents recalls. It supports the reorder rate that keeps wooden toys on shelves. For OEM/ODM buyers, we can adjust materials, finishes, age grading, packaging, and branding to match your market. Because design, sampling, production, and quality control work under one roof, failed tests lead to fast fixes, not delayed shipments.
If you are sourcing wooden toys, ask your supplier what they break on purpose. The answer tells you what they protect. Explore OKEYKIDS at https://www.okeykids.com/ or request our catalog. We would be glad to show you how we work.
